NEBRASKA - Youth Entrepreneurship Expo at Nebraska State Fair Shines Spotlight on Nebraska Youth Entrepreneurs and much more...The 4H Youth Entrepreneurship Expo will debut at 4H Cyber Fair (in the Farmland Building) during the 2008 Nebraska State Fair, August 22 through September 1. This is the third year that youth entrepreneurship has been a primary focus in the 4-H CyberFair Pavilion. Last year, more than 40,000 state fair participants toured the Pavilion. Here are a few of the exciting activities and exhibits planned and the opportunities to volunteer: Inventions – an exhibit on Labor Day for ages 5-10 to create a product using common items that most individuals would have at home. Entrepreneurial business displays--Free space to showcase your Biz! Youth Entrepreneurs exhibits--Youth (Under age 18) may sell their products to those attending the Nebraska State Fair. Last year during the entire fair, the Cyberfair Pavilion had over 42,000 in attendance. Inaugural Youth Entrepreneurship Discovery Challenge--contest in which youth showcase their ideas or products and win prizes including cash incentives. Nebraska Career Connections Career Exploration Website Exhibit About the State Fair youth display. This is an excellent way to gain FREE publicity for Nebraska entrepreneurs' businesses. Exhibitors do not need to be at the fair all day, every day. If the products do not need supervision, Nebraska 4-H will be happy to display them. The entrepreneurship curriculum developed by faculty at Indiana University East for high school students is getting a test drive in India this December. The Bellevue Leader in Nebraska just published an excellent article highlighting the class that Janita Pavelka offered this spring for home school students in the Omaha Metro area. The class is using the EntrepreneurShip Investigation curriculum (copyright 2008) that is now available for purchase from University of Nebraska 4-H. This curriculum is the culmination of three years of intense effort to create an experiential (learning by doing) entrepreneurship curriculum for middle school aged and above youth. Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm’s proclams (4/18/08) that Youth Entrepreneurship Week begins in Michigan on May 11 in conjunction with the Generation E Institute’s Student Showcase in Battle Creek (MI) on May 13.
